I love this gif and will have to use it again!!
(Remember we started at 0 for everything, since I am not comfortable sharing the actual numbers yet.)
Katie
Current Weight: -6.8 lbs.!!!
Tony
Current Weight: -5.8 lbs.!!!
I am actually quite surprised at our results. As you can see from our food diaries (links below) and will see in an upcoming post about our weekend in South Haven, MI, we did terribly over the weekend, especially Saturday. This morning I told Tony that all I want is to not gain weight. Boy, was I surprised when I saw the scale! But then I had to remind myself that typically the first week of a weight loss plan involves losing a lot of water weight. The next few weeks will be the real test as our bodies adapt to fewer calories. Also, for those of you who are also on weight loss journeys, keep in mind that the higher your weight is, the more you will lose each week. Percentage-wise, this is not a huge amount for us, but if a 150 lb. person lost 6-7 pounds in a week, that would be incredible!
To be honest, I'm surprised I lost a pound more than Tony. Men seem to lose weight much more easily than women, so I thought for sure he would be dropping the weight like crazy. My extra weight loss doesn't have anything to do with a difference in weight (when we started, he was exactly 1 lb more than me; now he is 2 lbs more), so I don't know how to explain it. Hopefully this will continue because in the past I have been discouraged by seeing Tony eat 600+ more calories than me a day and lose more weight each week. I know it's just how it is and as a shorter (and should be smaller) person, I should eat less, but sometimes it is difficult to see him get that second helping of dinner when I am already tapped out on calories for the day.
There will be a post tonight or tomorrow night (with pictures!) about our weekend trip, and then a post later this week about a weight-loss topic.
Thanks for following our progress and keeping us motivated!!

YAY KATIE!! eventually, you'll get to a point when you're too full to want a second helping of dinner....I can't wait until that happens for me! :) great job this week!
ReplyDeleteThat is true! It takes a few weeks for one's stomach to shrink so at some point I will not want the second helping. Well, I'll probably always want it, but eventually I will be too full to have it :)
DeleteCongratulations!!! DH and and I are kicking it into a higher gear this week. We've been surprised that with our working out, we haven't dropped any weight. This week, I will not have a single glass of wine. That's usually been my comfort in the evenings, but I've decided I don't need those extra calories and I'll make myself a cup of tea instead. I don't put any sugar in my tea.
ReplyDeleteThank you! Are you tracking your calories? Sometimes it is amazing how much we are eating when we don't think about it. Even tracking on terrible days makes me still think about it all day.
DeleteCongrats! I'm really excited to keep up with your journey! You've inspired to get back on track with my eating and exercise and to start blogging more often. Looking forward to reading about all your successes!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I've enjoyed reading your blog posts, so I'm looking forward to more of them to come :)
